Sendai Fujisaki

After Our Exhibition at Fujisaki Department Store, Sendai

Our exhibition at Fujisaki Department Store in Sendai has come to a close.

Throughout the exhibition, we were grateful to welcome many visitors who took the time to stop by and view our textiles.

Some visit us every year, some encountered our work for the first time, and others travelled from afar.

Supported by each of these encounters, we were able to bring this year’s time in Sendai to a close.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited the exhibition, and to those who chose to welcome our textiles into their lives.

Back at the workshop, the silkworms we raised this year — both tensan wild silkworms and domesticated silkworms — have finished spinning their cocoons, and the first cocoon harvest of the year has begun.

After feeding on leaves, resting, and molting several times, the silkworms spin cocoons from their own thread.

These cocoons will gradually become thread, and eventually cloth.

The textiles you saw at the exhibition are also born from this long accumulation of time.

From cocoon to cloth.

Once again, the season when this story begins has arrived.

We look forward to sharing more scenes from the workshop little by little.
